Meet the HELM
JJ Smith & the HELM is a Southern California based five-piece band delivering a crowd-friendly blend of classic-rock, blues, folk, and Americana with soulful originals and familiar favorites. Drawing inspiration from iconic artists like Led Zeppelin, the DOORS, the Grateful Dead, the Allman Brothers, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty and The Band—along with ’90s staples such as Pearl Jam, Dave Matthews Band, the Wallflowers, Phish and the Red Hot Chili Peppers—their sound balances nostalgic appeal with fresh energy, making it a great fit for multi-generational summer audiences.
The band features JJ Smith on lead vocals, rhythm guitar, banjo, and harmonica, supported by a seasoned and dynamic lineup: Adam Snow on drums, AJ Polodoro on bass, Alex Vo on lead guitar, and Brent Brandon on keys and organ.
